About this deal

Through this guide, you will be able to learn about how to install a corner channel drain and ensure the long-term function of the system. ACO drains are renowned for their durability, reliability and attractive design. Over 50 years of experience in the drainage industry has made ACO drainage one of the best known and respected brands. Their range of A15 load class channel drains is a favourite amongst builders, plumbers, DIYers and landscapers alike thanks to their attractiveness, ease of installation and function. ACO building drainage comes in a variety of forms. They have taken full advantage of their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant to create a fully flexible modular stainless steel drainage system that is available off the shelf. They also have a wide selection of stainless steel pipework and accessories in 304 grade and 316 grade stainless steel, in addition to their kitchen channel drainage, balcony drainage range, and shallow drainage systems. By removing the internal base of the corner unit you can connect vertically directly onto 110mm diameter PVC-U underground pipe.

Strong and robust V shaped channel design with a range of constant, sloped and shallow depth channels Channel drains are typically structural formers that are integral to the performance of the system but may or may not be load bearing without the required surround detail. The method of installation is essentially the same, but the placement of the corner pieces will be key. This is the generic term for linear systems that incorporate a channel together with an inlet detail that is embedded in the constructed surface. Where you have marked the first line drain piece, use a cut-off saw, angle grinder or hand-saw to cut off the spare drain length. This will allow the corner unit to be accommodated following the cutting process. Ensure this is accurate and, as with the line of the channel drain, ensure any debris has been removed before installation to reduce the risk of leaks. Step 4: Connecting the partsThe system is fully certificated, UKCA and CE marked to BS EN 1433:2002 from Load Class A 15 pedestrian areas, up to and including Load Class D 400 suitable for parking of all types of road vehicles*. The plastic grating with microgrip offers a non-slip cover for drainage systems around the house. In addition to the tried-and-tested nub structure, the grating is equipped with many tiny bumps that ensure surefootedness even in high humidity. The structure is moulded directly into the grate surface and is therefore particularly durable. The plastic grating retains its non-slip properties even after heavy use by being run over by a car. Features & Benefits: ACO Hexdrain Plastic Channel Drain A15 with Microgrip - 1m Keep in mind that these can be rather difficult to create and take up much of your time. So make sure you have set time aside to create the corner unit. Once this has been done, you can move forward to the installation after the following steps have been completed. ACO channel systems are used for external and internal applications, from Airports to Kitchens. Slot drainage

This is a term that is often incorrectly used referring the broad family of ‘Channel’ systems. While it is a ‘channel system’ with a surface element and an underlying channel component, it differs in that the surface interface is defined by a discrete slot as opposed to a grating. This can be utilised by designers for aesthetic benefit without the need to compromise on the drainage capacity. It is also used in areas subject to heavy loading where it is important to eliminate moveable parts (Qmax is an example of this). As with channel systems the materials can vary from polymer concrete to plastic and steel. Use an outlet to connect this grating to the underground drainage of the property and this ACO channel drain will function without you ever knowing it’s there. ACO DoorWay Drain If the manufacturer does not provide quad connectors, then you will need to cut where the two pieces will connect on the corner to make one. The corner sections will need to be made with joints so that an angle of 90° can be made.

Their extensive product portfolio offers market leading and high-performance solutions for every drainage application from internal and building drainage, to landscaping, commercial projects, highways, airports and even environmentally sensitive drainage systems. There are two main ways to create a corner channel drain. Whether that corner may be a standard “L” shape, “T” shape or any other corner type, you can manufacture the drain to suit specific standards. ACO HexDrain is a high-strength channel drain manufactured with a recycled polypropylene base for use in domestic applications. Popular amongst homeowners and property developers alike, the channel drain is simple to install and comes with nine other grating options so each system can be customised to the property it’s installed in front of. A quad section can be one of the easier ways to install a corner channel drain. Many ranges already have these available to fit alongside their standard line channel drain parts. Not only can they be placed without the need to cut to a specific size, but come in a wide variety of sizes to suit the channel drain you’re installing.

More advanced forms of slot systems like the ACO Qmax although not load bearing in their own right, are formers that facilitate the construction of a ‘non-interrupted’ pavement. Line (or, Linear) drain Protective UltraSTEEL galvanised edge rails for improved strength and bonding between channel and surface materials. Also available in stainless steelThis is the same as ‘channel’ drainage and often used interchangeably. The term is typically used to emphasise the difference over the more traditional ’point drains’. This is significant as linear systems tend to offer economic benefits over point drainage as a result of reduced underground piping and easier construction that results from the elimination of complicated falls or levels. ACO is arguably one of the most widely recognised brands in the design, development and manufacture of surface water drainage systems. Their product durability and reliability places them as firm favourites, admired by architects, specifiers, contractors and DIY enthusiasts alike. ACO RainDrain is another ACO drainage application favourite. Having specially developed a lightweight concrete, Vienite, using recycled polymer, ACO can offer RainDrain as a fantastic option for domestic drainage. The strong, stable base is a great foundation for the galvanised steel grating that comes with ACO RainDrain. Most significantly ACO RoadDrain carries the BSI Kitemark which ensures that the recycled materials and the process used to manufacture it, produce consistently high quality BS EN 1433: 2002 marked product. The product is also fully compliant with national highways and transport agencies (UK) and National Roads Authority (ROI) requirements for motorway and major trunk roads.

ACO DoorWay drain is very similar to ACO Threshold drain except it’s wider and so will be more effective at preventing water from running into a property. If your entry pathway is at a slight slope running toward the house, it may be worth installing ACO DoorWay drain to prevent any water ingress. One method involves simply cutting the straight pieces to accommodate the corners and one uses a quad section. The following will explain each of these two methods and how you can use them in your channel drain structure. Method 1: The quad system The HexDrain Corner Unit has several uses, to change the direction of the run by 90°, to form a T-junction, to connect to a rainwater downpipe or as an outlet connection.REMINDER: Although this is a basic guide, we recommend you follow manufacturer instructions if provided. ACO DoorWay drain slots underneath the doorway at the point of installation meaning that the door frame doesn't need to be cut or altered. The system is suitable for use in a wide range of applications including commercial and residential developments, pedestrian precincts, landscaping and parking areas for all vehicle types. The channel unit is manufactured from Vienite, ACO’s high strength polymer concrete and forms the main component of the system. The channel is longer than it is wide with a cross sectional dimension design to contain the flow from the associated surface surrounding the installation. The channel body can bemanufactured from Polymer Concrete, Plastic or Steel. Firstly, ensure that the current set pieces of drain your additional part will connect to extends past the end of the wall where the line of the channel drain is currently against. If this has been done, place what will be the other part of the corner of the channel drain into the position you want ready for marking. Step 2: The markings
